Summer Opera Lyric Theatre Presents Katya Kabanova
Experience a powerful and tragic opera set in a repressive Russian town, where a stifling marriage and societal pressures ignite a storm of forbidden desires and ultimately lead to a desperate search for freedom.
A small, isolated Russian town on the banks of the ever-present Volga River reveals a repressive society in which rules and appearances are all that matter. Unhappily married in a household dominated by a bitter and controlling matriarch, a threatening storm leads all to a tragic resolution and freedom.
